A journey lasting more than a year

We began in the Vicenza countryside, watching a simple seed sprout, and then arrived at the tailoring workshop where our garments come to life. This journey, which we summarize in a few minutes in the video, is one of time, hands, and materials.

From the earth to the plant

It all begins with the sowing of Carmagnola hemp, a historic variety associated with the Veneto region. After about three months, a simple seed sprouts into a lush plant, up to three or four meters tall, with an unmistakable golden green color.

At this stage, we observe, wait, and let ourselves be guided by the rhythms of the earth. The material we'll use later is already all here.

From plant to fiber

Once harvested, hemp is processed until it becomes a long, strong fiber, similar to a horse's mane. It is a living material, both rough and noble.

At this point the fiber is ready to leave the field and begin a new chapter: the journey to the artisanal spinning laboratory.

Fiber becomes thread

The fiber arrives at the artisan spinning workshop, where expert hands and human ingenuity meet. Fiber by fiber, the filaments are twisted together to create a unique thread.

This process resembles an invisible thread that ties together stories, people, and knowledge. It's the first real step in which matter takes direction.

The thread becomes fabric

Our thread continues its journey at Tessitura Colombina, where it is interwoven with other threads on wooden looms dating back to the mid-19th century. Here, fabrics rich in history and craftsmanship are born, as if they were destined to meet from the beginning.

Every meter of fabric bears the memory of the hands that wove it and the machinery that has continued to work for generations.

The fabric becomes a garment

Finally, the fabric arrives in our tailoring workshop. Here it is cut, sewn, responsibly washed, and hand-finished.

Each pair of jeans, trousers, or jacket captures the complete journey of hemp: from the Vicenza area to the historic looms, down to the last stitching. A garment that embodies the respect for nature, craftsmanship, and values that inspired GIMMI.
